Selamat tengah hari, everyone!

Matthias just send me a copy of the group photo we took in Munich. So nice, kan?

So just for good measure, I am also posting the group photo we took in Denver.

KL certainly has high standards to live up to! Next time, I want to stand at the back. Can or not? :)

Four months and counting down

Selamat pagi (good morning), everyone!

Its less than four months to the KL-GRI meeting. I know that some of you have already gotten your flight tickets, but if you have not, Malaysia Airlines (http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/splash.aspx) are offering some promos, so head over there ya. Last I checked, the flight from LA – Kuala Lumpur is going at RM1,800 (roughly USD600).

I hear that some of you might want to do the whole slumber party thing and bunk in together in an apartment or suite near the meeting venue. Let me know if you need help at this ya.

And karaoke! Somewhere amongst the Bavarian beers, super sized dumplings and that German wedding in Munich, someone mentioned karaoke. If you’re interested, let me know and we’ll come up with something. Most karaoke places in Kuala Lumpur have a decent oldies collection. Sounds like loads of fun.

I also hear that it is holiday season over on that side of the world. Katherine, Peter and others who are on hols right now, I hope you’re having an awesome time! You know what’s better than being on holiday in the summer? Having another holiday at the end of the year… just before Christmas hols!

If anyone will be in KL for the weekend right after the meeting (7 & 8 Nov), I’d be happy to spend some time with you in the city. If anyone needs a free guide for Melaka or Penang or Ipoh or Langkawi or Cameron Highlands or even Borneo for the week, please email my manager and demand my release :)

That’s Langkawi Island, people. And it is calling you. Yes, YOU. Like I told Janell, if you got an international driver’s license, you should definitely take a trip here.

I know what you did in Munich

At the risk of my managers reading this and thinking that I was having way too much fun in Munich, I’d like to share some of the Munich meeting photos. This is supposed to be an official unofficial website anyway :)

Let me know if you would like to share your photos here too, alright. My regret is that I did not get a photo of everyone, but hey, there is always Kuala Lumpur and with the fancy dress party in the planning, you would really want to bring your camera for that one! :)

It’s Getting HOT In Here

June 1, 2009 1 comment

Selamat Tengahari everyone!

It is hot hot HOT, here in Malaysia! Having been in Europe for the past few weeks, I found that the heat on that side of the world is quite different from the kind of heat we experience here. Over here, the Straits and Malacca and the South China Sea makes the weather exceptionally humid. The kind of humid that makes you want to take a shower three times a day. That kind of heat.

This kind of heat only means one thing: Time to head to the East Coast beaches and islands! :) (Katherine: We should have hosted the second meeting. But spring in Munich was really something wasn’t it? It was the first time in my life I saw tulips bloom. Yay, Mathias! :)

The wonderful East Coast islands will sadly be closed when you folks fly over to KL in November, but have no fear – I am currently compiling a list of places that you could go in November that’s just as awesome. Lists in progress can be found at the Jalan-Jalan section of this website. (Janell, got some gorgeous resort suggestions for you on that page:)

I have also updated dates details on the Selamat Datang page. I hope you find these information useful.

Oh, I also said that I would look out for promotional flights for you and some promos on Malaysia Airlines are happening right now. New York – KL at USD549 return, Los Angeles – KL at RM597 return and Frankfurt – KL at USD300.55 one way. Check it out, alright.

Keep the questions coming.

Anyone wants anything from KL?

April 23, 2009 Leave a comment

Dear GRI Members,

I will be leaving for the Munich meeting in about eleven days. It will take me two days to get there via Amsterdam.

I know that some of you may have been to KL before and some of you have not, but if anyone wants anything from here, do drop me a note, ok?

(No, I don’t think I can smuggle a durian through customs)

See you all soon!

Cheers!
Majidah
